One of the most common things I hear from everyone is how personable and thorough I am. I love interacting with all different people. I feel every person deserves to enjoy the love and joy of a dog and the support and kindness of the breeder.
We pride ourselves on health testing. Our standards include extensive testing certification through the Orthopedic Foundation for Animals for eyes, heart, elbows, hips, patellas, including PennHip and a genetic panel for diseases. Breeding is more than just pairing two dogs together. There is a science behind breeding. Breeders must understand genetics, health testing, and especially temperaments to ensure you receive the best.
We also are certified in temperament testing. This gives each puppy a voice and everyone an opportunity to select the best fit puppy for their home, needs, and desires.
Here at Emerald Grove we utilize the “puppy culture” and the “empowered breeder” curriculum. This includes scent and early neurological stimulation starting day 3 and up to the day they leave. These methods include age appropriate and specific handling and desensitization to stimuli in a safe, controlled, and loving environment. Benefits include improved cardiovascular performance, stronger adrenal glands, greater resistance to disease, more tolerance to stress, and desensitization to fears.
We love what we do and stand behind our program.
Temperament testing has been an important mechanism in determining suitability in dogs for service work, therapy, police, military, and of course for amazing companion dogs.
We are trained and certified to temperament test each litter. This in depth process gives each puppy a voice. It allows you to make a more confident choice when selecting your puppy.
We do selections at 6 weeks, because any time before that time period will not give an accurate result. We know it can be hard to wait until 6 weeks of age, but it’s worth waiting for to ensure you are making the best choice for your needs and desires.
